Bishop Burchard put the cornerstone for the chapel in Halberstadt. Out of this an important benedictine convent developed: the St. Thomas chapel.
1060
After the cathedrale was burned down the bones of Burchardi were put in the St. Thomas chapel directly under the altar.
1208
Cistercian nuns found in the church an abbey. The St. Thomas chapel becomes St. Burchardi.
1361
the Blockwerk organ by Nikolaus Faber is finished in the cathedrale of Halberstadt. The first liturgic used organ and therewith the beginning of the usage of the organ as an instrument in churches.
1619
The famous musician Michael Praetorius praises the Blockwerk organ in his opus: “De organographia” which is a historical and systematical description of the architecture of organs.
5. September 1912
John Cage was born in Los Angeles
1985
Cage composes ASLSP with assistance of a random program for piano.
1987
A second version of ASLSP that Cage dedicated to the organist Gerd Zacher (who came from the city of Essen).
1992
John Cage dies in New York.

The 89th birthday of John Cage markes the beginning of the performance. The first organ that is build for the consequent performance of a composition and that will blow all so far known temporally dimensions and therewith also sound dimensions. It is connected with the intention of optimism, someone´s spirits and idealism which is equal to the creator of the big cathedrales.
